Witold Chomicz. Reminder!

Witold ChomiczSince October 5th a new exhibition is on display in the National Museum of Krakow, in the main building on the first floor. The name of the exhibition is: Witold Chomicz. Reminder. From Ziayd Raoof’s collection. The goal of the exhibition is to show the most popular and famous paintings from this famous artist, book lover and teacher. The exhibition will first of all feature the area in which Witold Chomicz has been most succesful, in the area of graphic arts and applied graphic design. Some other works from Witold Chomicz will also be on display, for example paintings, stained glass and mural painting.

The exhibition will be on display until December 30th, so make sure to visit Krakow in 2012 if you want to see this. If you plan on visiting Budapest as well in 2012, read the following article for more information about what to do in Budapest in December.

Witold was born in 1910 and he died in 1984 at an age of 74 years old. If you do not know Witold and his works, this is an ideal exhibition where you can get to know much more about both him and his works.

City of Gardens – City of Fences

Tomorrow, on September 13th, a new exhibition will be opened in the National Museum in Krakow named “City of Gardens. City of Fences.” The exhibition will be on display in the main building of the National Museum (Gallery of 20th Century Polish Art, Avant-Garde Hall). According to the official press information the “project refers to the “Exhibition of architecture and interiors surrounded by gardens” which took place in 1912. It is devoted to changes which have occurred in the contemporary residential architecture and urban planning after 1989 and their relationships with the inhabitants’ identity and progressing changes in the city space. The exhibition will be accompanied by a garden installation situated at the square in front of the façade of the Main Building of the National Museum.

The exhibition will be on display until January 13th in 2013, so you still have some time left if you would like to enjoy this exhibition. If you come to Krakow for Christmas or maybe to celebrate New Years Eve, you still have the chance to enjoy the exhibition… Enjoy!

Numismatic Rarities in the National Museum of Krakow

Exhibition KrakowThe name of a very interesting exhibition currently on display in the Bishop Erazm Ciołek Palace, a divison of the National Museum in Krakow is “Numismatic Rarities from the Collection of the National Museum in Krakow.”  In the exhibition visitors can see really old coins and medals dating back to the 10th and 11th century. Just read this small quote from the official press release: “Priceless coins and medals in the collections of the National Museum in Krakow. A denar dating from the late 10th/early 11th century and bearing the head of Bolesław I the Brave, a 14th century Krakow grosz stamped with the image of King Kazimierz III the Great and medals imprinted with the portraits of the royal Jagellonians.

If you feel like checking out this exhibtion, then you need to visit the place before December 2nd, 2012 – as that will be the last day of this exhibition. While in Krakow, why not enjoy a private guided tour, some good food in a restaurant and of course a walking trip to the Wavel Castle… beautiful!
